Boost. The power of positive impact

How to get better all the time

This issue takes a look at ways you can make sure you’re constantly improving what you do and what you deliver. We’ve a TED talk on getting better at the things that matter to you, the latest on project management from the Project Management Institute and tips on making sure your work keeps your customers satisfied.

Keeping your customers satisfied

In Agile, one of the ways you keep making your product better is by ensuring you regularly deliver the improvements that will make a difference to your customers.

Two related tools help you do this by making it clear when you’ve completely completed a piece of work: the definition of done and acceptance criteria.

We’ve noticed some people are puzzled by the difference between the two, so we’ve put together a blog post to clarify this, and to show how you can make both tools work well for you.

The future of project management

The Project Management Institute have just released their annual survey of trends in project management.

Success in this age of rapid change, they argue, comes down to PMTQ. Your Project Management Technology Quotient is your ability to adapt, manage and integrate technology to meet the needs of the work at hand. It’s about leveraging technology to ensure your practice keeps getting better.

Unsurprisingly, Agile is a key contributor to PMTQ. The survey finds that 57% of innovators are Agile, compared to only 22% of the “PMTQ Laggards”.

Getting better all the time

How do you get better at the things you care about? In his TED talk (now up to 3 million views), Eduardo Briceño reveals that it’s a matter of keeping a clear split between your learning zone and your performance zone.

It’s practical and thought-provoking stuff. And, with its focus on reflecting on past performance, there’s a strong Agile flavour to this technique.
