Guide to running a definition of done exercise

With lots of people asking how to run an exercise to come up with their definition of done as a team, we thought we’d put together a step-by-step guide.

Deliver a release-ready product every Sprint

If you’ve got a DoD that everyone understands and upholds, you know what needs to be done to deliver a release-ready product every Sprint.

Developing your DoD with the whole team creates transparency and buy-in. The discussion makes sure everyone is on the same page and doing it collaboratively builds ownership and engagement. It’s not a sexy subject though, so it helps to have a structured process to guide the conversation.

Government content guidance updated

If you or your team create content for a New Zealand government website — or pretty much any NZ website — you’ll find updated guidance on the digital.govt.nz website.

Based on the content advice that guides the New Zealand government's one-stop website Govt.nz, the resources show you how to create and structure content that’s easy for all New Zealanders to use.

The guidance is also useful for people who look after non-government websites; it doesn’t matter who your site is for, nobody ever complained that a website was too easy to use.

What to measure to make your product better
