Mission control for our virtual Agile Professional Foundation course

First virtual Agile certification course goes down a treat

Our Agile coaches have been hard at work for the past few months to make sure the virtual version of our Agile Professional Foundation is as engaging as the in-person course. In fact, Becs our Agile Lead says the course is even more interactive now, with more discussion and regular collaborative practical exercises via Zoom breakouts.

The response from attendees shows the work has paid off.

"Thank you so much for the course, it was brilliantly done. I was sceptical of the Zoom platform at first but you guys made it awesome!" Kyle Mackle, Treasury

“I came away with a much better understanding of the Agile approach and so many useful, practical tools. The pack that was sent to us also made the virtual course a more engaging experience. You guys thought of everything! ” Lichelle Evans, Mary Potter Hospice

The APF runs on Zoom over four consecutive mornings (NZ time). It’s a practical ICAgile-certified introduction to Agile, with a focus on how you can develop the Agile mindset. Building this mindset means you can apply the principles of Agile in your day-to-day work, delivering more and doing it more sustainably.

WorldBlu comes through again for Boost

There are two ways WorldBlu has come through for us in 2020.

Firstly, we’ve just learnt that WorldBlu have again certified us as a freedom-centred and democratic workplace. It’s great to get the recognition of our peers and mentors from the WorldBu family, a family that includes such innovative and successful organisations.

Secondly, WorldBlu is making us more resilient; the Freedom at Work model is helping us weather the pandemic. In a traditional command-and-control set-up, you limit yourself to the drive and ideas of a few at the top. In a team of leaders, you get the benefits of everyone's insight and experience. We really noticed this during the first COVID-19 lockdown. New ways of working, of staying well, and of staying well-connected emerged organically from across the team at Boost.

The result was that clients reported that our levels of service were unaffected. In fact, we actually had our best billing month ever in this period. Our Team Happiness rating remained well above industry norms and, despite joining us under lockdown, our newest developer described starting at Boost as “the best onboarding experience that I've had in any job.”

Connecting your team when COVID-19 has you working from home

With NZ’s biggest city back in level 3 lockdown, we thought it was worth re-sharing our popular post on keeping your team connected when you’re working at home.

We hope all our friends in Auckland are bearing up under level 3!

New glossary gives you a quick guide to Scrum

Scrum Inc, founded by Scrum co-creator Dr. Jeff Sutherland, have recently put out a glossary of Scrum terms.

It joins an existing Scrum glossary put together by Scrum.org (founded by Ken Schwaber, the other co-creator of Scrum).

Both are useful when you need a quick guide to Scrum lingo and practice.

The Scrum Inc. glossary is searchable and includes terms from the Scrum@Scale Guide. The Scrum.org glossary is more concise and focuses on terms relevant to Scrum at the team level.

Our next Agile Professional Foundation runs on 19–22 October
