DIY ninjas: How to initiate continuous skill-building

Rebecca, our Agile Lead, has created another retrospective plan. It’s called the Development continuum retro, and it’s a one-hour session with two related goals.

Firstly, it lets you tailor each team member’s skill-building to their specific needs. And secondly, it shows the team how they can drive their own professional development.

So it’s great for making sure everyone gets the satisfaction that comes from going full ninja.

Test-drive Boost hiring event goes virtual

Job interviews are a bit different at Boost. You get to take us for a test-drive first, so you can meet the team and see the way we work.

Prompted by our latest COVID-19 lockdown, we’re experimenting with a virtual test-drive. Like our popular virtual Agile training, it’ll run via Zoom. We want to see if we can still have a fun evening getting to know each other, even if we can’t put on pizza.

For the upcoming inaugural virtual Test-drive, we’re recruiting designers and developers to join us in our Wellington studio.

Our first virtual Test-drive Boost hiring event is on: 30 September.

Want to join Boost as a designer? Here’s what the job looks like

We do things a bit differently at Boost, which means our UX designer roles are a bit different too.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a blog post that shows you what the role looks like: the key responsibilities, what you’ll do day-to-day, the kind of experience and training we’re looking for, that kind of thing.

Snapshots from home

While we were all working from home during lockdown, one of our developers Richard put together this collage as a keepsake. As the pics make clear, one of the benefits of working from home is the opportunity to get assistance from the resident small people and pets.
