Boost. The power of positive impact

11 February 2020

Better retros, better projects and better careers

Read on for resources, offers, events and reports covering:

  • better retrospectives
  • successful project preparation
  • increasing your impact with Agile immersion training
  • better careers for product owners and managers.
A team enjoys a retrospective.

5 guides to better retros

Retrospectives are a regular chance to check how you can improve the ways you are working. This makes them really powerful. Sometimes though, the fact that they are regular counts against them. They can get repetitive and the team can lose interest.

Here are 5 guides to getting the most from your retrospectives, Sprint after Sprint:

  1. The Treasure Island Retrospective — A very popular video guide to running one of the retros we’ve developed at Boost (34,000 YouTube views and counting)
  2. The Art of the Retrospective — Our guide to using an Agile mindset to keep retros fresh and effective
  3. Spotify Retro Kit — An easy-to-follow do-it-yourself retro kit covering the basics and walking you through five different retros
  4. Retrospective Techniques Trello Board — Philip Rogers shares ideas for all-in-one retros, retro games, futurespectives, and each of the 5 stages retros can run through
  5. Retromat — Generate random plans for retros, then shuffle each of the 5 stages till they work together well

Successful project preparation

Delivering a successful project requires planning and preparation. But this doesn’t have to be — and in fact shouldn’t be — time-consuming.

Our Agile project kick-off kit shows how you can run a one-day discovery workshop that sets your project up for success. The Kit is used all over the world, by all sorts of organisations including Microsoft, Airbus and Vodafone.

The Kit works as well as it does because it’s based on our experience running these workshops. And now we want to share our experience in a more hands-on way.

Free project discovery workshop planning and facilitation

If you’re based in New Zealand — and your project meets certain strict criteria — we can plan and facilitate your discovery workshop for you. This is a strictly limited offer however.

Drive your career as a product owner or manager

Product planning and analytics tool providers Pendo have teamed up with Product Collective to produce a snapshot of what’s happening in the world of digital product management/ownership.

While it just covers US and Europe, it does provide insights into the way this relatively new field is developing. Armed with these insights, it’s easier to drive your own career in a field that, as yet, has no clear career pathways.
